Socio-Cultural. Situation and Prospects
In the late nineteenth century industrial revolution was consolidated and cities rose to leave the human person in a net loss mechanized. People ceased to be to become "mass? and "consumers?, lost in the big city, anonymous in the city, living a shared solitude.
In the 60 intended REDISCOVERING technique that society robs people: The social and meeting the specific culture of people. It strengthens the phenomenon of the ASC, which aims "to encourage? to citizens and enable you to become aware of a number of processes that lead to humanize their lives. Institutions and states take sides:
- UNESCO: The ASC is a set of social practices to stimulate the initiative of the communities in their own development process in the dynamics of social and political life.
- Ministries of Culture: Facilitating citizen participation, combating passivity and isolation.
- The Church: For the Social Pastoral, the ASC is an ideal of evangelization, especially in marginal environments.
But the ASC grew unevenly, sometimes detached from reality and with little public support, without actually meet expectations.
The ASC has been characterized by:
- Activism: Eagerness to do things quick, filling gaps unfilled content.
- Intuition: the "clairvoyance?, The" sentimentality? (Saviors of children), because we were concerned (mothers against drugs) ...
- Volunteerism: to fill my empty, to escape my loneliness, to feel good with my conscience ...
The development, typology, concept, theory and definition of the ASC is well documented. Today, more interested in HOW to do all what we already know. This is to give strength and weight to the words (so not with the wind) and concepts:
- Achievements: performances, practices, jobs, results.
- Movements: Trends, style, originality.
- Forms: resources, formulas, techniques.
- Methods: actions, approaches, tactics, guidelines.
Is ultimately HOW CAN or practice of animation: methodological? A.

Because there is no aseptic method, any method is based on a way of understanding life and things:

Where the ASC should be directed? Where to focus our gaze? What policy areas have gaps?
There are five potential areas of activity of the ASC:
1. The ASC itself.
2. The leisure education.
3. The adult education.
4. Specialized education.
5. The training and job placement.
And there are five areas where the socio-ASC has a wide range to intervene:
1. The socio-educational intervention through media (radio, local TV, newspapers).
2. The teaching hospital.
3. Education for health (prevention campaigns, courses, seminars, therapeutic communities, harm reduction programs, ...).
4. The third and fourth age.
5. Immigrants.
