First steps to starting your own small business

Have you always dreamed of what it would be like starting your own small business. It 's been on your mind since you were in school, and there are moments, especially on Monday morning, daydream about it. But, you're not really sure what that would look like. Not have the first clue how to start, and, of course, you're afraid that you would put your heart and soul into it, only to fail and look like a fool. You barely speak loudly, because you do not want family and friends to laugh at you.

But, anything is possible! The only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves! With planning and learn the steps, and do homework, if this is something you really want to do, you can do, and succeed in a lot, too!

I'm not saying it's easy! Nothing worth having is. I had to learn a lot about me, business, my customers and potential customers. It never ends, because my interests and passions change with the years. But, how exciting!

When my daughter started kindergarten, I returned to school. It took me five years to get to school, but I had a vision: I wanted to help people become healthy and fit in the privacy of their homes. After school, I did not have that plan fully in place, in my mind, but after six years of work in a hospital, I was ready. I opened MEG Fitness in June 1996. It 's been an amazing journey! I will never look back at my life with regrets that I did not pursue my dream. I really learned that the only limits are those which impose on me, too! So, I continue to dream big and allow my vision to become larger. Why not? What is the worst thing that can happen?

This is what you should ask yourself. If not try, you'll be happier? If not try, how do you know if you could do? Consider some of the known names of the sport, like Michael Jordan, basketball player, has thrown more MISSED shots than those who have left their mark. And if he had not taken the opportunity to see what was possible for him?

Well, now you are ready to take the next step! First, in order to help you focus, I recommend that people start working on their business plan. The Association of Small Business provides valuable resources on their website (www.sba.gov). This was the path I took. A year before leaving the hospital, I started working on my business plan. It helped me to determine exactly who I was, what I offered, because, that my ideal client was, who my target market was (at that time), that my competition was, where I offer my services, I would like to offer them, and so on. As I train other health professionals who want this dream, I use a 3-page business plan for customers who do not intend to seek external funding. Regardless of your business plan, will help answer many difficult questions for you.

There are specific resources for specific sectors, including, among other professionals who help others get started. Do your research to see who you can contact for support and ask questions as you progress. Once you have your business plan in place, is not the time to celebrate, yet! How are you going to accomplish the goals that have come up with this plan? Need a subsequent marketing plan. Now, although the marketing plan is also part of a business plan is really just the introduction! The marketing plan will become the model, your program and specify the actions you will take to make those goals reality. If you use it seriously, it will be your day to day guide to making your dreams! ......
